Behind the scenes - Cooking edition

Seeing the recipes and photos of perfect food all over instagram and blogs sometimes can be misleading. You just assume that there is someone perfect that stands behind it and makes it all happen. There is so much that goes behind the scenes, especially when the blogger wants to give you the best of the best..
Being a food blogger myself, I know the struggle that goes on putting out food recipes. Being an amateur „cook“, an amateur „photographer“ and an amateur „food stylist“ at the same time and trying to perfect myself while perfecting recipes & trying new things can be very tiring. But the most important part of it is the happiness and stress relief I get in the end. The love from you guys, readers, followers.
And if you haven’t noticed yet, I‘m not a good writer at all. I’m not the blogger you want to read it’s posts for hours, because my real passion is creating, cooking, experimenting.. and this is just how I can document it + show it to the world in order to incourage everyone to try new things, to feed their passion and follow their heart.
As you can see at this photo, I don’t always mix some ingredients together and it suddenly looks and turns out great. In fact this proves my fails.
I go through a try and error phase before I post a recipe, because I want to simplify everything as much as I possibly can and also adjust it to my taste. I’m a student and I want to make every recipe suitable for students or just everybody that lives pretty minimalistic and doesn’t have the extra tools.
I don’t ever follow other recipes and that’s the main reason why it might not go so perfect most of the time. Yes, I take the  „recipe basis“, because I haven’t invented it, but what goes over that may break it or make it. That’s the fun & creative part😛
For example my latest blog post was on Valentine’s Day and it was a recipe for Strawberry Cinnamon Roll Hearts. The Cinnamon Roll recipe: the dough and the process is the base.[the “I haven’t invented it” part] But the shape, the addition of strawberries was my idea and it luckily worked out amazing.

Baking is super tricky, but you learn as you try.. Same thing with cooking in general. By now I have learned some basics and most of the time I don’t do measurements, I just eyeball everything. Then if it comes out delicious and how I wanted to, I try to guess how much of every ingredient I put in. I know it may not always be exact, so next I redo it based on my written recipe and either I let it as it is because I love it or I do some adjustments on the recipe. This may go on for a day or up to several months.
Why? Because as a food blogger you kind of have to post recipes in the right season, you have to post frequently (so the content you post may take most of your time, which leaves you with no time for the recipe you want to perfect) and when you’re the only one eating the food, making loads of it isn’t much of a good idea.
The real food bloggers you know have a whole staff, the real ones cook and experiment as their full time job.
So this is a bit of a down side of being amateur, but do you want to know the best part?
Being amateur gives you much more space to create, to think outside the box, because you just don’t have rules. No rules, no strict recipes, no strict measurements.. You are free to experiment how you want..
Have you ever cooked with your mom, dad, sister, friends, etc ...?!
[If you haven’t, get up right now and go try it !!!!!]
You can never get sad or mad at these situations, even if it doesn’t turn out perfect. You still enjoy it, you still have fun.. and most of the time you end up eating everything to the last bite because it tastes good anyways 😊
[Because it’s made with love]
You can’t really make something taste bad, only if you burn it to ashes. Which, even if it happens, when you’re cooking with other people, you’re most likely to laugh at it for the next couple of hours😌
This is the magical part of cooking, it always brings you joy..
So as long as it is your true passion and you decide to do it for fun, to bring happiness to yourself and others around you, do it ..
Just do it!!
