Strawberry Cinnamon Roll Hearts

Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is almost here. To me this day it’s not only for the ones in a relationship, because we can share love with our family & friends too.
Without underestimating the fact that love should be „celebrated“ any time of the year and we should show people we love how much we appreciate their presence in our lives not only 1 day a year.
But still whether you celebrate it or not, whether you have someone special to share it with or not, the recipe I‘m sharing today is the best gift/ dessert/ surprise/ representation of pure love.
You can make it any time of the year and still show you poured your heart into this dessert.. Literally!
..Because they are heart-shaped strawberry cinnamon rolls and the fluffiness, the creaminess of the glaze, the sweetness and the tanginess from the strawberries complement each other perfectly.

So I followed my classic „cinnamon rolls“ recipe + I added strawberries and a different technique to make them.

Go check the cinnamon roll recipe HERE!
I‘m going to let the ingredients down here also..
So here is what you will need:
(For the dough)
1 cup of lukewarm milk or water
2 tsp of active dry yeast
4 cups of flour
1/2 a cup of granulated sugar
3 tbsp of unsalted butter (spoon fulls)
2 eggs
a pinch of salt
(For the filling)
4 tbsp of unsalted butter (spoon fulls)
1 cup of brown sugar
3 tbsp of cinnamon
+ STRAWBERRIES (about 150 g)
(For the icing)
5 tbsp of unsalted butter
1 1/2 cups of icing sugar
4 tbsp of mascarpone cheese

Preparation:

After I made my dough and it doubled in size, I rolled it out and instead of spreading the brown sugar-butter filling, I cut individual strips of dough about 2 cm  wide. Next i spread the filling concentrated in the center.
[The reason why I did this was to prevent overfilling and them coming out „cleaner“ later after baking.]

*Don’t forget to preheat the oven to 180°C.*
Then I layed 3-4 strawberry slices in each side of the strip (not too thick, because it’s harder to roll them).
Roll each side up to the middle and then pinch the outside middle part to make a heart shape.

Put them in a pan and bake them in a preheated oven (180°C) for 20 minutes until golden brown.
After they‘re done you can make the glaze and serve them.

❤ ENJOY!! ❤️ HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !! LOVE YOU ❤
